Arrive in Dubai
Welcome to Dubai – a friendly and fun-loving city. From the timeless tranquillity of the desert to the lively bustle of the souk, Dubai offers a kaleidoscope of attractions. It is one of the few cities in the world that has undergone such a rapid transformation – from a humble beginning as a pearl-diving centre – to one of the fastest growing cities on earth. Dubai today has earned itself the reputation of being the ‘gateway between the east and the west’ and is also considered as the dynamic nucleus of the Arabian Gulf region. The day is at leisure to explore the city on your own.

Dubai City tour
Today start your day discovering the new and old of Dubai. Begin the tour with a photo-stop at the Dubai Creek, a saltwater creek which ends at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. Historically, the creek divided the city into two main sections – Deira and Bur Dubai. In the early 20th century, the creek, though incapable then of supporting large scale transportation, served as a minor port for dhows coming as far away as India or East Africa. Although it impeded the entry of ships due to current flow, the creek remained an important element in establishing the commercial position of Dubai, being the only port or harbour in the city. It is here that you can see the traditional Abra – the water taxi which till date is in use to cross the creek.
Later you have some free time at the Dubai Gold Souk and Spice Souk.
You will then pass by the 2nd December Street, where the treaty to create the Arab world’s first federation of states, the United Arab Emirates, was signed on 2 December 1971. It is also the site of the UAE’s second largest flag (40 x 20 meters) on top of a 120 meter reinforced column. A powerful symbol of UAE’s unity, the Union House is an unmistakable and iconic attraction, floodlit at night, and a definite landmark in the modern history of the nation.
Going further you get a glimpse of beautiful Islamic architecture as you pass by the most magnificent Jumeirah Mosque.
Continue your journey along the Jumeirah Beach and stop for photo at Burj Al Arab the most luxurious and tallest standing hotel in the world. Designed to resemble the sail of an Arabian dhow ship, the building rises out of the Persian Gulf, reaching out a height of 321 meters and is a sheer architectural and engineering marvel.
Later drive on the famous Sheikh Zayed road – one of the busiest roads of Dubai and view the Dubai Marina, the largest man-made marina in the world. It is an artificial canal city, where the waters of the Persian Gulf were brought into the 3 km site. Its waterfront provides shelter for hundreds of yachts, and also includes a 7 km long pedestrian walkway, with a string of outdoor cafés, bars and restaurants.

Visit to Dubai Museum & Heritage Village
Today morning proceed to the Dubai Museum with the aim of learning the traditional way of life in the Emirate of Dubai. Al Fahidi Fort, which houses the Dubai Museum, was built around 1787, and once guarded the landward approaches to the town. Renovated in 1971 for use as a museum, its colourful life size dioramas vividly depict everyday life in the days before the discovery of oil. Galleries recreate scenes from the Creek, traditional Arab houses, mosques, the souk, date farms and desert and marine life. One of the more spectacular exhibits portrays pearl diving, including sets of pearl merchants’ weights, scales and sieves. Also on display, are artefacts from several excavations in the emirate, recovered from graves that date back to the third millennium BC
Post lunch; proceed to Heritage Village. Located in the Shindagha near the creek’s mouth, the Dubai Heritage Village (Hatta Village) provides a glimpse into Dubai’s traditional culture and lifestyle, including Emirate’s maritime history, pearl diving traditions and architecture. It represents the components of wild, marine, and mountain life, where the visitor can identify closely the old traditional customs of the country and the special characteristics of old houses, handicrafts, patterns, and forms of living. Displays include a tented Bedouin village, ancient armoury, wooden chests and cooking utensils.
